1Password processes

The features of 1Password for Windows and its browser extensions are implemented through the following executable processes:

• 1Password.exe The main 1Password for Windows program. This process starts when you launch the program; it stops when you exit the program.

• Agile1pAgent.exe The “helper,” which facilitates communication between the main 1Password program and the 1Password extensions for Chrome and Safari. This process starts automatically at Windows startup or when you choose the Help > Restart 1Password Helper command in 1Password; it stops only in the event of a problem.

• Agile1pBroker.exe Facilitates communication between Internet Explorer and the 1Password extension for Internet Explorer (IE). This process starts when it’s needed by IE; it stops when the last running instance of IE is closed.

• Agile1pService.exe Implements the “shared lock status” feature (that is, the Keep extensions unlocked option on the Browsers tab of 1Password preferences) for Internet Explorer and Firefox. This process starts automatically at Windows startup; it stops only in the event of a problem.

Normally, it is not advisable to terminate one of these executable processes manually, though our support team may direct you to do so, in the process of diagnosing a problem.
